Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè (/ˈmɪʃo/ /ˈjeki/ [grease] [hope]) is a temperate Town located in the Bëmtlaci Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè was founded by Trèsêj Zesmthëm Èdsm, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 25°C (77°F). Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè receives an average of 278 cm/y (109 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 2384 m (7821 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè was founded durring the early 13th century in summer of the year 1220, by Trèsêj Zesmthëm Èdsm. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè is buildings are arranged within a network of broad packed earth streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The town's millitarily questionable fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè’s streets. In spite of this, quite a few people can be seen reading and the town has an abundance of libraries. It’s quite clear the community values education.

Civic Infrastructure

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's parks.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's grid is powered by an arcane means.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's natural decorations nor waterways.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

There’s more than one leader in Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè, but at least some of them are at each other’s throats. It might be a conflict between formal leadership and informal authorities, or it could be a struggle among civil officials. Their interests might diverge sharply, or it could be a personal grudge that’s boiled over. Outside threats and internal problems are likely being ignored until the power struggle is resolved.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

In Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè there is always just enough rain to be annoying.

The Ice Elemental, Medium near Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Invocation energies of tier 1 via recitation of poetic epics.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Mount Grief, an iconic vista located neare Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè, proved to be volcanic when the mountain erupted. The eruption was isolated to the area around Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè, which was swallowed in ash, lava flows, and pyroclastic gasses. Jîs-yeki Dêtîkè lost 221 people, 103 livestock, and 35 buildings in the disaster. The event is forever remembered as the Day of Grief's Wrath.
